The hero of the USSR
On December 17, 1919, Nikolai Vasilyevich Zebnitsky was born - Hero of the Soviet Union, a member of the partisan movement in the Gomel region. Nikolai Vasilievich was born in Kazakhstan in the village of Novosukhotino. Received secondary education, after which he worked as a teacher. In 1940 he was drafted into the Red Army, and in 1941, after graduating from the Oryol Infantry School, he served in the headquarters of the Oryol Military District. In the summer of 1941 Zebnitsky took part in defensive battles against Nazi troops near Vitebsk and in the Smolensk region. In September 1941, Nikolai Vasilyevich led a platoon of the special task force of the Western Front, which carried out special tasks in the enemy rear on the territory of the Smolensk and Vitebsk regions. During this time, under the command of Zebnitsky, 4 military operations were carried out, in which his platoon destroyed up to 100 German soldiers and captured 20 carts with cargo, personally the platoon commander destroyed 1 officer and 10 enemy soldiers.
In April 1942, Nikolai Vasilyevich (under the operational pseudonym "Zimin") was appointed commissar of the second partisan detachment named after Dzerzhinsky of the operational-KGB group of the NKVD of the BSSR and the Special Department of the Western Front. Usually, this subdivision in the documents was designated simply "Second". On July 4, 1942, the commander of the detachment, Pavel Kochuevsky, dies during the seizure of secret documents. Nikolai Vasilievich takes command of the detachment. Under his leadership, the detachment operated in enemy territory until November 1943 in the Mogilev, Gomel, Oryol, Smolensk, Polessk and Chernigov regions. In addition to transmitting information about the location and number of enemy forces, the detachment's fighters destroyed 5 echelons, 19 cars and trucks, 377 enemy soldiers and officers, and defeated 13 occupation volost administrations. In Vasilevichy, 90 people were released from prison, who were threatened with the death penalty. The soldiers of the detachment were also able to propagandize a whole police squad of 27 people, who with weapons went over to their side.
From November 1943 to November 1944 N.V. Zebnitsky served in the Directorate of the USSR People's Commissariat for State Security in the Gomel Region, later as deputy head of the UMGB department in the city of Rogachev. On January 1, 1944, Senior Lieutenant Zebnitsky was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. He was also awarded two Orders of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner, the Red Star, and medals. In March 1955, he was transferred to the reserve with the rank of State Security Major. Nikolai Vasilievich Zebnitsky died on November 29, 1975. A memorial sign was erected in his honor on the Alley of Heroes in Gomel, and a memorial plaque was unveiled on the building of the KGB Directorate for the Gomel region.
