Export duties on Belarusian timber, woodworking products introduced

MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – The Council of Ministers has introduced rates of export customs duties on timber and woodworking products. The measures are stipulated by the Council of Ministers' resolution No.956 of 30 December 2022, BelTA has learned.

The rates of export customs duties on timber and woodworking products, which are exported from Belarus' territory to beyond the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, will stay in effect till 31 December 2023.

The export duty on exporting rough logs and timber with one and more unprocessed face 50mm thick and more has been set at €100 per cubic meter. The export duty on exporting timber with one and more unprocessed face less than 50mm thick has been set at 15% of the customs value but at least €20 per cubic meter. The export duty on unassembled bars, planks and frames for hardwood or wooden floor cover is €100 per cubic meter.

The resolution is supposed to prevent shortages of the materials. The document came into force on 1 January 2023.
