Summer camps to welcome 342,000 kids in Belarus in 2021

The children’s camp holiday programs will cover 342,000 kids in Belarus in the summer of 2021, Aleksandr Tsai, the deputy director -  head of the department at the National Center for Recuperation and Health Resort Treatment, told a press conference in BelTA’s press center.

“About 342,000 children are expected to spend holidays in camps of all types: 198,000 children in day camps and 144,000 in overnight resident camps,” Aleksandr Tsai noted. He specified that the March numbers (344,000 children) have been adjusted. But every child who wants to spend holidays away from home will be able to do it. This year the demand for vouchers is higher than last year.

About 5,500 children's recreation camps will operate in Belarus this summer. Now they are gearing up to open. They are hiring personnel and instructing them on the hygiene requirements and temporary recommendations to prevent the coronavirus infection.

About Br45 million from the central budget has been allocated to the National Center for Recuperation and Health Resort Treatment to finance summer holidays. About Br15 million from various sources of funding will be earmarked to spruce up the infrastructure of the stationary camps ahead of the summer.

The average fees have been set. Eighteen days or more in an overnight resident camp will cost Br520 (the government subsidy will make up Br215, parents’ contribution - at least 10%). The 18-day holiday in day camps will average Br127 (the subsidy will amount to Br89).

Safety of children will take the priority. The compliance with hygiene requirements and regulations, temporary recommendations, safety rules, health of children and staff will be monitored on a continuous basis.
