1903 - 1984
The hero of the USSR
Iosif Dyakov was born on March 22 in the new style - April 4, 1903 in Gomel. Participated in the Civil War. In 1922 he graduated from the infantry school named after SNK BSSR. In 1939 he graduated from the Higher Agricultural School, after which he worked in the Berezovsky District Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Brest Brest Region. In January 1942, Dyakov was called up to serve in the Workers 'and Peasants' Red Army and sent to the front of the Great Patriotic War. He took part in battles on the Western, Central, 3rd Belorussian, 1st Ukrainian fronts. In 1943 he graduated from the courses of the political composition of the Western Front. By June 1944, Senior Lieutenant Iosif Dyakov was the party organizer of the battalion of the 494th Infantry Regiment of the 174th Infantry Division of the 31st Army of the 3rd Belorussian Front. Distinguished himself during the liberation of the Byelorussian SSR.
On June 23, 1944, in a battle for a height in the Dubrovensky district of the Vitebsk region, Dyakov, dragging the fighters along with him, burst into an enemy trench, destroying about 15 enemy soldiers and officers in hand-to-hand combat, and also blew up an enemy machine gun with a grenade. On July 15, 1944, during the battles for the liberation of Grodno, Dyakov, replacing the injured company commander, led his soldiers into the attack, personally destroying about 80 enemy soldiers and officers. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945, for "exemplary performance of combat missions of the command on the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time," Senior Lieutenant Joseph Dyakov was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star "numbered 6502.
In 1945, with the rank of senior lieutenant, Dyakov was transferred to the reserve. He lived in his native Gomel, was at party work. He died on January 11, 1984 and was buried in Gomel. Decades have passed, and his name and feat are still on the lips of the younger generation, which still admires the heroism and courage of Dyakov. He was also awarded the Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st and 2nd degree, two Orders of the Red Star, and a number of medals.
