The hero of the USSR
Nesterovich Pavel Vladimirovich was born in the village of Yentsy (now the Kormyansky district of the Gomel region). The first years of his life passed like that of an ordinary village boy. Before being drafted into the army, he worked in the mines in the Amur Region. In July 1941, Nesterovich was called up for service. Since November of the same year - on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By October 1943, the Red Army soldier Pavel Nesterovich was a sapper.
By October 1943, the Red Army soldier Pavel Nesterovich was already a sapper of the 4th separate sapper battalion of the 193rd Infantry Division of the 65th Army of the Central Front. He distinguished himself during the battle for the Dnieper. On October 15, 1943, Nesterovich was among the first to cross the Dnieper in the Loev area, pulling a ferry rope across the river, and took an active part in the crossing of Soviet units to the western bank. Over the next day, he ferried 9 anti-tank guns, 6 mortar batteries with ammunition.
On October 30, 1943, the Red Army soldier Pavel Nesterovich was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union. After the end of the war, with the rank of foreman, Nesterovich was demobilized. He lived in Gomel, returning to his native places, a front-line soldier for more than 25 years served in the internal affairs bodies as part of a separate militia platoon to protect administrative buildings and weapons depots. Sergeant Major Nesterovich was an example for young police officers, took an active part in the moral and political education of civilian youth. In his personal file there were about thirty rewards and not a single disciplinary penalty. Pavel Vladimirovich passed away on September 11, 1971.
In 2005, on the eve of the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, a memorial plaque was installed on the building of the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee, Hero of the Soviet Union, Sergeant Major Pavel Vladimirovich Nesterovich.
