House № 26 is brick, L-shaped in plan. Together with house No. 24, it acts as a risalite for a deepened central part with an arched passage (a cemented vault, palmettes, rosettes, acanthus leaves). The external dominant is the angular volume rising above the perpendicular «wings».
Horizontal section on the main facades along the ave. Lenin and Karpovich Str. are highlighted with rust (on the 1st floor - horizontal, on the 2nd–3rd floors - rectangular) and profiled cornices (above the 1st floor – with dentils). The vertical at the level of the 2nd-4th floors is emphasized by decorative portals. They consist of pilasters (decorated with panels and rosettes), flanking windows and balconies on the 2nd-3rd floors, and profiled cornices (on the frieze – rosettes surrounded by floral decor). The portals are completed with imitation attics (it is formed by windows of the 4th floor with sockets in the corners).
The windows on the 1st floor are arched showcases with ornamented archivolts on the side of Lenin Ave. and rectangular with a fan lock on the side of Karpovich st., on the 2nd - with profiled platbands, on the 3rd – with profiled window sills, dentils and forged fences. Accent balconies on the 3rd floor are placed in porticos, decorated with balustrades with bollards and decoratively saturated consoles. Balconies of the 4th floor on narrow profiled slabs with consoles have a wrought-iron fence.
The main accent of the angular volume is decorative portals, similar to the portals on the «wings», but completed with porticos with triangular pediments (on the 4th floor). The windows in them are placed in threes, and on the 3rd floor they are united by balcony groups. The windows on the 4th floor are flanked by pilasters.
Lenin Avenue is one of the oldest streets in the city of Gomel. During the Great Patriotic War, almost all of it was destroyed. After the war, it was this street that turned into a showcase of a new architectural style – the «Stalinist Empire». The new general plan of the city of 1946 provided for an ensemble building for the main streets of the city. It can be assumed that the architect V. B. Ivanov was the author of the project of house № 26, as well as house No. 24. The building was erected in 1955 for Gomel employees of the regional Council of Industrial Cooperation. After construction, it was transferred to the city. Its purpose, as a residential building with service facilities, has not changed until today.
