Almost the entire population of Belarus will have access to the 4G network by the end of 2022-Ministry of communications

Almost the entire population of Belarus will have access to the 4G network by the end of 2022, BelTA learned from the Ministry of communications and Informatization.

"In Belarus, by the end of the third quarter, the coverage of the population with 4G cellular services was 89.4%. This year, thanks to the conversion of the radio frequency spectrum, the entire population of the Gomel region is provided with these services. In the near future, the 4G network will be significantly expanded in the Mogilev region, and by the end of 2022 it will be available to almost the entire population of the country, " the Ministry of communications said.

As for the global situation, the international telecommunication Union has published the report "Measuring digital development: facts and figures, 2020". Recent data shows that the number of households with Internet access is 57%. At the same time, there is a significant gap between urban and rural areas in the world. According to the report, for the first time in history, the number of mobile mobile telecommunications subscribers is declining, and global growth in the number of mobile broadband subscribers is stabilizing.

The world is also experiencing a slowdown in the deployment of mobile broadband infrastructure. For the period from 2015 to 2020, the coverage of 4G networks around the world doubled. By the end of this year, the ITU estimates that 4G networks will cover almost 85% of the World's population. On the other hand, the annual growth rate has been gradually slowing since 2017, and this year 4G coverage was only 1.3 percentage points higher than in 2019.
