The amount of energy consumed by electric vehicles in Belarus has increased 4 times over the year, BelTA learned from the press service of Belorusneft.

"Electric vehicles are one of the few industries that showed growth in 2020 both in Belarus and in the world as a whole. Taking into account the global trends towards the transition to eco-friendly modes of transport and subject to the adoption of new incentive measures in Belarus, experts predict that by 2030, over 565 thousand people may travel on the country's roads in an optimistic scenario. electric vehicles and consume about 2.3 billion kWh, which will make up 12.5% of the total capacity of the Belarusian NPP, " the press service said.

Back in June, the number of electric vehicles in Belarus was estimated at 400 units, but after the abolition of VAT and customs duties, cars with green license plates began to appear more often on the streets of cities. The national operator for the development of a network of electric filling stations in Belarus, Belorusneft, which owns the Malanka brand, predicts further significant growth in electric transport. In addition to passenger cars, Belarus plans to introduce electric buses: in the coming years, they will appear more actively in cities. Electric freight transport is also expected to be developed. In September, MAZ introduced its first electric truck capable of driving about 100 km on a single charge.

During the Forum on the development of electric mobility E-Mobility - 2020, additional measures to stimulate the development of electric transport were discussed. For example, to issue soft loans for the purchase of electric vehicles, provide tax incentives to companies who transplanted their drivers into electric cars, especially for taxi services, delivery, car-share, allow cars with green numbers move across the lane for public transport, and electric trucks to give free use of toll roads. If everything necessary is done, then by 2030 the share of electric transport in the national automobile fleet may reach about 14%, or 565 thousand electric vehicles that consume at least 2.3 billion kWh.

He drew attention to the fact that the world's largest automakers have already announced their intention to focus on producing only EV-cars. By 2022, BMW will produce all-electric cars at all its plants in Germany, and Honda will stop producing diesel powertrains in Europe by the end of the same year. By 2025, Nissan will start selling only electric and hybrid cars in China.
