In Belarus, the amount of energy consumed by electric vehicles increased 4 times over the year

The amount of energy consumed by electric vehicles in Belarus has increased 4 times over the year, BelTA learned from the press service of Belorusneft.

"Electric vehicles are one of the few industries that showed growth in 2020 both in Belarus and in the world as a whole. According to the estimates of the ez Malanka network, the number of electric cars in the country has already exceeded 1.6 thousand, and energy consumption has increased 4 times and reached 6.4 million kWh. Taking into account the global trends towards the transition to eco-friendly modes of transport and subject to the adoption of new incentive measures in Belarus, experts predict that by 2030, over 565 thousand people may travel on the country's roads in an optimistic scenario. electric vehicles and consume about 2.3 billion kWh, which will make up 12.5% of the total capacity of the Belarusian NPP, " the press service said.

Back in June, the number of electric vehicles in Belarus was estimated at 400 units, but after the abolition of VAT and customs duties, cars with green license plates began to appear more often on the streets of cities. The national operator for the development of a network of electric filling stations in Belarus, Belorusneft, which owns the Malanka brand, predicts further significant growth in electric transport. By the end of 2021, based on data from Bloomberg NEF and the International energy Agency, experts expect that there will be 5 thousand people in Belarus. electric cars, in 2022 according to the basic scenario-25.8 thousand, in 2023 - 54 thousand, in 2024-82.8 thousand and in 2025 - 112.2 thousand. However, there is a more aggressive scenario, according to which the number of electric vehicles by 2025 will be more than 230 thousand.

For example, Ukraine in the result of a number of similar stimulus measures (the abolition of customs duties, VAT and other compulsory payments) has been able to increase the fleet of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids to more than 40 thousand, and in 2016 there was only about 4,46 thousand "it Should also be noted that the range and prices of electric cars has significantly moved in a positive direction compared to 2016. For example, the Dacia Spring will be the cheapest electric car in Europe. The price of an electric car in Hungary, including subsidies, will be about $12,890, " the press service added.

In accordance with the forecasts, the network of gas stations is also being built in advance: this year alone, the number of ESS has increased by 2 times - from 200 to 400. In the coming years, there will be super-fast charging that can charge modern electric vehicles in a few minutes.

In addition to passenger cars, Belarus plans to introduce electric buses: in the coming years, they will appear more actively in cities. Electric freight transport is also expected to be developed. In September, MAZ introduced its first electric truck capable of driving about 100 km on a single charge.

During the Forum on the development of electric mobility E-Mobility - 2020, additional measures to stimulate the development of electric transport were discussed. For example, to issue soft loans for the purchase of electric vehicles, provide tax incentives to companies who transplanted their drivers into electric cars, especially for taxi services, delivery, car-share, allow cars with green numbers move across the lane for public transport, and electric trucks to give free use of toll roads. If everything necessary is done, then by 2030 the share of electric transport in the national automobile fleet may reach about 14%, or 565 thousand electric vehicles that consume at least 2.3 billion kWh.

"Two years ago, world experts said that by 2030, every fourth car sold will be electric. Today, they agree that this will be every second car sold, and this change in the forecast is not surprising. For example, in Norway in 2020, the share of sales of "clean" electric vehicles has already exceeded 60% of total car sales in the country, and in European countries as a whole, sales of electrified cars for the first time exceeded sales of cars with diesel engines," said Andrey Kotik, Deputy General Director of Belorusneft.

He drew attention to the fact that the world's largest automakers have already announced their intention to focus on producing only EV-cars. By 2022, BMW will produce all-electric cars at all its plants in Germany, and Honda will stop producing diesel powertrains in Europe by the end of the same year. Volkswagen Group will spend about 73 billion euros on electrification, hybrid powertrains and digital technologies over the next 5 years. By 2025, Nissan will start selling only electric and hybrid cars in China.
