The hero of the USSR

Semyon Davidovich Kremer was born on 10 February 1900 in Gomel. In the Red Army since November 1918. In 1934 he graduated from the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze. In September 1936 - January 1937, he was at the disposal of the Intelligence Directorate of the Red Army. In January 1937 - August 1942 - on an overseas business trip under cover as the secretary of the USSR military attaché in Great Britain. Since August 1942 - Head of the Western Faculty of the Military Institute of Foreign Languages.

Since July 1943 - a participant in the Great Patriotic War. He held the posts of commander of a mechanized brigade, deputy commander of a mechanized corps. He took an active part in the Battle of Kursk, the liberation of Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia, Lithuania.

On 33 August 1944, Guard Colonel Semyon Davidovich Kremer was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

Participated in the Soviet-Japanese War of 1945, liberating Northwest China from Japanese militarists. After their defeat, Semyon Kremer continued to serve in the Armed Forces. In 1952 he graduated from the Higher Academic Courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff. General Kremer commanded the Zimnikovskaya guards motorized rifle division, was the deputy commander of the mechanized corps. In 1956, Guards Major General of Tank Forces Semyon Kremer retired.

After his dismissal from the army, Semyon Davidovich lived in the hero city of Odessa. Perhaps also because some of the streets and lanes of Odessa somehow imperceptibly reminded him of old Gomel. The city in which he was once born is a Hero of the Soviet Union, a brave officer and a talented intelligence officer who skillfully defended his homeland on all fronts ...

Awards: two Orders of Lenin, three Orders of the Red Banner, Orders of the Patriotic War, 1st and 2nd degree, Red Star, medals. Honorary citizen of the city of Molodechno, Minsk region and the city of Tukums, Latvia.
