NIKOLAI ALEKSEEVICH KOZHUSHKIN

1922 – 2003

Born in the village of Kuzkin (now Kikvidze district of the Volgograd region, Russia). In the Red Army since August 1941. In the army - from December 2, 1943, he flew on an IL-2 attack aircraft. He received baptism of fire in defensive battles near Stalingrad. Later he took part in the hostilities to liberate Ukraine.

From the award list of Nikolai Kozhushkin: "During his stay on the fronts of World War II, he made 112 successful sorties on an IL-2 aircraft: to attack and bomb enemy equipment and manpower. During this period, he personally destroyed and damaged: tanks - 14, self-propelled guns - 3, vehicles with troops and cargo - 21, 4 batteries of anti-aircraft artillery and small-caliber anti-aircraft artillery, up to 15 supply with cargo, caused up to 30 fires and 3 strong explosions, smashed up to 20 residential buildings, suppressed up to 40 points ZA and MZA of the enemy and destroyed up to 150 people of enemy manpower.

For the made 112 successful fighting departures by Il-2 aircraft on attack and bombing of the equipment and manpower of the opponent and courage shown at the same time, courage, valor and heroism it is worthy representations to the highest government award - to assignment of a rank "Hero of the Soviet Union".

After the war, he continued to serve in the Air Force. In 1950 he graduated from the Air Force Academy. Since 1978, Colonel N.A. Kozhushkin - in stock. He lived in Gomel, in 1992 he moved to his homeland, to the city of Volzhsky, Volgograd Region.

Awards: Medal of Lenin, 3 medals of the Red Banner, 2 medals of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, the Medal of the Red Star, medals.

In the city of Volzhsky, a memorial plaque was installed on the house in which the Hero lived.
