The building of the road construction college,
Gomel, corner of Labor square, 1, etc. Lenin

The college building – a brick 3-storey volume with a symmetrical distribution of architectural elements, a developed basement with a large rustication – is an example of civil architecture of the 1950s. The center of the main facade is marked by an entrance group in the form of a decorative portal bounded by pilasters and completed with a staircase attic with a bas-relief in the form of a heraldic shield surrounded by flags. The rhythm of the facade is set by the alternation of wide blades and window openings. The flanks of the facades are decorated with wide pilasters. The facades are completed with a draft and a profiled cornice with consoles.

The interiors of the monument are also valuable. The main staircase and vestibules are located on the central axis of the building. The lobby group is decorated with pylons with capitals with acanthus and cornices with ionics and acanthus. Cast-iron stair handrails are decorated with overhead rosettes, palmettes and ionic curls. There is an assembly hall on the right side of the building. The stage is framed by a rectangular portal with a molded border. Two bronze chandeliers are mounted on two grid sockets on the ceiling. The walls are decorated with pilasters, cornices and bronze sconces.

Preparation of the working design of the building was carried out in 1950 in the Gomel branch of «Belgosproekt» under the direction of architect Alexander Ivanovich Kosyakov. According to the encyclopedia «Architecture of Belarus», the project of the technical school was carried out by him in 1952. in collaboration with Gomel architect Natalia Grigorievna Kalinichenko. Her signatures are then placed on the working project sheets.

Ten years have passed from the beginning of the development of the educational building project to its implementation. At the same time, a number of changes simplified the architectural decor (it was the time of the «struggle with excesses»), but the building retained the style of «Soviet neoclassicism», got a solemn look and organically fit into the ensemble of Labor Square.

In 1969, a laboratory building was designed on the site of the old college building on Kirova Street, which was built in 1973 and connected to the main building.
