Belarus considering creating cargo fleet of its own

MINSK, 13 September (BelTA) – Prospects of buying or creating a cargo fleet of its own are under consideration in Belarus. Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko made the statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.
Roman Golovchenko said: “We are now very seriously considering creating a sea freight terminal of our own. We are analyzing prospects of buying or creating a cargo fleet of our own in order to minimize haulage costs. Ports in [Russia’s] Leningrad Oblast are priority ones for us from the point of view of economic effectiveness.”
According to the prime minister, events of the last few months demonstrated that Belarus has to rely on its own assets and assets of strategic allies in these matters.
