Head of Belarus President Administration inspects storm-hit districts

During his working trip to Mozyr District, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi urged farmers in the areas damaged by a storm to do their best to preserve grain crops, BelTA has learned.

Dmitry Krutoi emphasized that this is the task set by the president. All issues related to storm recovery efforts are under the personal control of the head of state.

During his working trip to Mozyr District Dmitry Krutoi talked to exectuives and operators of combine harvesters of the state farm Zarya. As of the morning of 17 July, the farm threshed a total of 6,200 tonnes of grain. Some of the fields were affected by the storm. These fields are now being given priority attention.

“Wind bent the crops but did not lodge them. Therefore, without wasting time, we started harvesting them. It is important to remove crops on such fields in dry weather,” the farm said.

Dmitry Krutoi also raised the issue of equipment as he talked to operators of combine harvesters. They assured that all the issues are solvable and Gomselmash machines harvest record yields. “We'll do our best and harvest  these fields,” they assured.

Chairman of Mozyr District Executive Committee Elena Pavlechko noted that  farmers are in a fighting mood. “Please pay attention there is no spike left in the fields cropped by our professionals,” she pointed out as the delegation inspected a triticale field which is being harvested.

According to Oleg Slinko, director of the state farm Zarya, this year's harvest is expected to be 30% higher than last year.

Dmitry Krutoi is visiting Lelchitsy District, Mozyr District and Kalinkovichi District that were hit the worst by the storm last weekend. The situation in the districts will be reported to the president.
