More than 300 students from China are enrolled in English-language master's programs at the state University named after F.Scores from the beginning of the school year 2020/2021. This was reported to BelTA by Vladislav Beizerov, Dean of the faculty of psychology and pedagogy of the University.
"Since the beginning of the academic year at Gomel state University named after F.More than 300 master's students from China study in English-language master's programs, " Vladislav Beizerov said. - The most popular among students from China are the specialties "theory and methods of training and education", "psychology", "Economics", "accounting, analysis and audit". Undergraduates study full-time, however, due to the current difficult epidemiological situation, teachers conduct classes in the first semester online. Modern technical capabilities of the University allow us to do this while maintaining the high quality of the educational process."
The Dean noted that the educational and scientific cooperation between the University and educational institutions of the people's Republic of China has a long history - Chinese students and postgraduates began studying at GSU several decades ago. In 2012, Chinese-Belarusian research laboratories on vacuum-plasma technologies were opened on the basis of GSU and Nanjing University of science and technology. Since the end of 2017, the first regional Confucius Institute has been operating at GSU. In the same year, a branch of the Shanghai professional Institute of industry, Commerce and foreign languages was opened.Skoriny, where students are trained jointly in the specialty "Russian Philology". In 2019, the center for the study of Belarus was opened at the Nanjing University of science and technology, and an international scientific laboratory for electromagnetic metamaterials and multifunctional plasma coating technology was established at the Beijing Polytechnic University.
The existence of more than 100 contracts with foreign partners allows the University to carry out multi-vector mutually beneficial cooperation. Since 2006, it has been a member of the inter-Academy Association, which unites universities in Europe and Japan. GSU named after F.Skoriny implements joint educational programs for the preparation of masters, providing for obtaining diplomas from two universities, with a number of universities in Japan, Finland, Sweden, Russia, and Kazakhstan. Scientific and educational cooperation is constantly carried out under the programs of the European Union (Horizon 2020, Erasmus+, etc.).
"Within the framework of international academic mobility programs, teachers and students of GSU have the opportunity to improve their skills in the best universities in the world, as well as to receive lectures from leading professors from universities in the near and far abroad," the Dean said.
Currently at the state University named after F.Skorina trains more than 1 thousand foreigners from almost 20 countries. The majority of foreign students are citizens of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Iraq, Yemen, China, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam, Nigeria, Libya, Lebanon, Ghana, and Cameroon.
"High quality of education, developed modern infrastructure and confident leadership in national and international University rankings (this year, according to the Webometrics international rating, GSU ranks 4th among Belarusian universities and is among the 12% of the best universities in the world) attract an increasing number of foreign students to the University, and allow us to conclude mutually beneficial cooperation agreements with foreign partners from all regions of the world," Vladislav Beizerov summed up.
