Over 125,000 large families open family capital deposits in Belarus

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – As of 1 April 2023 a total of 125,056 large families have opened the deposit accounts in Belarus under the family capital program, including about 82,600 deposit accounts at the total amount of $826 million and 42,500 deposit accounts at the total amount of Br1.02 billion, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry.

A total of 69,347 families applied for permission to use family capital ahead of schedule. Of them, 57,877 applied to use the money to improve housing conditions, 6,792 to receive healthcare services, 4,673 to pay for education and five to buy health products for disabled people.

The ministry granted permission to use family capital earlier to 67,062 applicants. Most of such applicants are from Brest Oblast (14,358). Then goes Minsk Oblast with 11,484 families, Gomel Oblast with 10,688, the city of Minsk with 9,166 and Grodno Oblast with 8,058. Mogilev Oblast and Vitebsk Oblast round out the list with 6,759 and 6,549 applicants respectively.

The Labor and Social Security Ministry noted that the family capital program applies to families raising three and more children. From 1 January 2022 the family capital equals Br29,950.
