Territorial defense command bodies undergoing comprehensive test in Gomel Oblast

A comprehensive test of territorial defense command and control bodies is in progress in Gomel Oblast, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Chief of the General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister of Belarus, Major-General Viktor Gulevich handed the relevant executive order to Chairman of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee Ivan Krupko. The executive order authorized the test of people’s militia. People’s militia is a component of Belarus’ territorial defense forces that has been evaluated since last year.

Viktor Gulevich stressed: “We continue upgrading the situation for the sake of comprehensive testing of our Armed Forces and the entire system for controlling defense, security, and law enforcement agencies. I am sure that our municipal authorities will be able to decently carry out the task they have been assigned. The experience of [Russia’s] special military operation indicates that we have no rear area. Forces and assets need to be able to ensure calm and order in our territory in any oblast.”

The officer pointed out that territorial defense forces will be deployed in Rogachev District and Korma District where they will carry out their missions.
